Scratching the Green

Posted on: 5 March

Dear Members,

I have noticed recently that a player or players are marking their golf ball when on the putting green by scratching the surface .

You can see in the attached picture that the surface of the putting green has been damaged.

If you know of anyone who is marking their ball in this manner please be good enough to ask them not to do so and mark their ball with an appropriate marker.

In addition to damaging the putting surface, scratching the greens surface and then lifting your golf ball is a breach of rule 14.1a and will result in a 1 stroke penalty.

Thanking you in anticipation of your co-operation

Regards

Tony Cruise

Captain
