Super Seniors Report

Posted on: 26 September

Your Super Senior Pennant team took another huge step towards defending their title on Monday, defeating the previously unbeaten Bankstown 5½ to 2½ at Oatlands.

In a full team effort, Lindsay Verdon, Drew Simonsen, Mark Foley and Trevor Amery recorded strong wins, while Bob White, Warren Grant and Ian Cochrane contributed with important halves.

Des Harvey fought hard all day, only to succumb on the 18th when his opponent holed a 15 ft downhill birdie putt to decide the match!

The strong Bankstown lineup included a former NSW Medal Champion Greg Bush and a former PGA player Ray Hore.

Mark Foley’s victory over Greg Bush was special – however, the round of the day belonged to Drew Simonsen, who was 2 under par after 14 holes in accounting for Ray Hore 5 & 4 – impressive indeed!

Even more impressive is that the team has managed its last 3 victories without it’s number 1 player Gerry Power.

Gerry returns to the fold next week in time for the team’s semi-final match on  9 October – venue and opponent to be advised.

A big thank you to those Castle Hill members who took time out of their day to come and support the team yesterday.
