From the Captain – Tee Time Trial
Posted on: 1 July
Dear Members,
With the large number of players now playing every Monday and Friday, it has been noted that game time has slowed.
Next Monday, July 7th, we are trialing 8-minute tee time intervals. The current tee time interval is 7 minutes.
We shall be monitoring the game times to see if this change assists in the speed of play. If there is a noticeable difference in the speed of play, then we shall use the 8-minute tee time intervals on days when we have a 1 tee start.
As a reminder, pace of play is everyone’s responsibility. Ensuring that you are keeping up with the group in front is not just incumbent upon the lowest marker in the group, every player should be aware of their position on the golf course.
A round of golf is meant to be played at a prompt pace.
Each player should recognize that their pace of play is likely to affect how long it will take other players to play their rounds, including both those in the player’s own group and those in following groups.
Simply by moving to the next tee once you have putted out (when possible) rather than watching your playing partners all putt out, and being ready to hit your tee shot as soon as it is safe to do so can make a big difference to the pace of play.
Course Care
To assist with course care during Winter, 30cm preferred lie on closely mown areas is in play.
Always check the Local Rules Board in the Pro-Shop before playing as this may change especially after wet weather.
Players who take a large divot are encouraged to replace the divot then lightly sand over the top rather than just filling the large divot with sand.
Remember:
- Sand buckets are available and are to be used for repairs to all divots. It is compulsory for all golfers to carry and use sand buckets.
- Repair all ball marks on greens with a pitch repairer.
- Enter and leave bunkers from the lowest access point – generally the back of the bunker or a tongue.
- Once footprints are raked out do not leave the rake against the edge of the bunker. Place it in the bunker facing toward the green.
Our team of greenkeepers work very hard to ensure that our members and their guests thoroughly enjoy our great golf course in its best condition.
It’s really important that as players you take the same personal care and pride in the facility as they do when we prepare the course each day.
Course care is the responsibility of every player.
Regards
Tony Cruise
