Knox vs Oakhill – Grand Final Playoff Report

The Grand Final playoff between Knox and Oakhill was contested on Saturday afternoon at Strathfield Golf Club, with the two strongest teams battling it out in a 4 x singles matchplay format.
It proved to be an incredibly tight contest throughout the afternoon, with very few halved holes and most matches seeing holes won outright as momentum swung back and forth.
Matt Nathan showed terrific resilience, finding his groove late in the round. Trailing 3 down with 5 holes to play, Matt mounted a superb comeback to square the match and finish All Square.
Leo Carroll was steady and composed all day. His match went right to the final hole where he nearly produced a magical finish, narrowly lipping out a chip on the last which would have secured the win. The match ultimately finished All Square.
Logan Bubb started strongly and stayed composed under pressure. Coming down the final hole All Square, Logan produced the shot of the moment with a birdie on the last to claim a crucial point for Oakhill.
Esa Somra, as always, showed his trademark composure. After finding his rhythm mid-round, he arrived at the final hole All Square and produced a clutch up-and-down for par to secure the win and seal the match.
