Match Report – Women’s Grade Team Week 2
Posted on: 21 February
The Women’s Grade team returned to competition on Friday at Cronulla Golf Course for the clash against the team from Carnarvon.
This round presented a new challenge: tricky, undulating greens that demanded patience, precision, and unwavering focus. Despite the testing conditions, the team produced another determined performance, securing a hard-earned result.
The team talk centred on staying straight and smart off the tee, as Cronulla’s sneaky hazards and tricky tree lines were waiting to catch anything wayward.
Match Highlights
⭐ Farmaan Dhillon – 3/2 Victory
Farmaan struck the ball beautifully from tee to green, and although the undulating greens made scoring difficult at times, she stayed composed and capitalised when it mattered. Her steady play and resilience shone through, earning her a welldeserved victory.
⭐ Ellie Makayev – 2/1 Victory
Ellie continued her strong form from last week, navigating the demanding greens with impressive confidence. Her putting remained a standout feature, allowing her to maintain control throughout the match. A close win, once again setting a positive tone for the team and highlighting her excellent course management.
⭐ Lina Wilkie – Square
Lina opened her match with confidence, taking an early lead and applying real pressure on her opponent. As the round progressed, her opponent mounted a determined comeback, capitalising on the challenging greens. Lina held firm over the closing holes, securing a well-earned draw and contributing another valuable half-point to the team total.
⭐ Sinae Kim Rah – 4/3 Loss
Sinae was down after the first couple of holes but fought hard to get them back. However, the tricky greens became the deciding factor, with several promising chances slipping away as the pace of the slopes proved difficult. A tough result, but her composure remains a strong positive heading into next week.
⭐ Janine Sayer – 2UP Victory
After a disappointing finish last week, Janine arrived determined to turn things around — and she delivered. Holding a 1UP lead going down the last, she produced the moment of the day: a brilliant chip-and-putt under pressure that secured a 2UP victory. A superb display of grit, focus, and well-earned redemption.
⭐Team Summary
Every player showed determination, patience, and a willingness to fight for every hole. The challenging greens tested the entire field, but the team’s collective spirit shone through once again. With another valuable point secured, momentum continues to build as the competition progresses.
A heartfelt thank you to our caddies who woke in the early hours of the morning to be at Cronulla by 7 am. They are very dedicated!
